Divas in Disguise came into existence in late 2001 when three women formed a Friday night support group to draw on one another's strengths to survive difficult times. One woman is a breast cancer survivor. Another is a single parent. The third is a part-time college student who successfully holds down a full-time job while maintaining a full family life. Soon after the group began to meet, they decided an official name was in order. Using the first names of each woman: Denise, Ivy, and Denise; they became DID. But the acronym wasn't enough - and Ivy ingeniously put the three letters together to form "Divas In Disguise." But Denise, Ivy, and Denise, are not the only Divas in Disguise, and soon the distinction fell upon a larger group of friends. Ivy took the next step by honoring her lifelong friends across the country with adjectives that define the philosophy of Divas in Disguise. They are:
Charismatic (Cynthia - Dallas, TX) Diligent (Denise - Hampton, VA) Diversified (Denise - Hampton, VA) Independent (Ivy - New Orleans, LA) Justifiable (Juliette - Philadelphia, PA) Knowledgeable (Kim - Hampton, VA) Professional (Pam - New Orleans, LA) Spiritual (Sarah - Charlotte, NC)

"We officially became a women-owned small business on April 9, 2002. Our goal is to empower and inspire women of all different backgrounds and cultures. We pray that we will lift those women with low self-esteem. I believe we can reach any goals that we set as long as we keep God first in our lives and our faith is strong." - Ivy P. Thomas |
